Samantha Proft

Process Engineer

Waupaca Foundry, Inc. - Marinette

Professional Bio

I recently graduated in May 2024 from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering.

I was an active member of the university's Materials Research Society (MRS) chapter where I served as the Treasurer & Secretary. As a member of MRS in a leadership position, my goal was to provide opportunities for other members to prepare for their next steps after graduation.

Alongside my studies, I conducted nanoparticle research with the supervision of departmental faculty. I used the skills obtained through my coursework to carry out materials characterization techniques throughout my research term.

I have spent the last four summers as a Process Engineering intern at Waupaca Foundry, learning about and falling in love with the metal casting industry. My experience at Waupaca Foundry has provided me the opportunity to apply my learned skills to the workforce. Waupaca gave me the opportunity to turn my internship into a full-time position.

I am deeply passionate about paving the way for current and future generations of tradeswomen.
