29 - Analysis of Ductile Iron Fatigue Data Generated by Two Universities

Abstract:

The Ductile Iron Society (DIS) engaged Climax Research Services (CRS) in January 2001 to analyze fatigue data provided to DIS as part of DIS Project No. 29. Project No. 29 was originally intended to be a comparison of fatigue properties as generated by two types of fully reversed (stress ratio of R = -1) fatigue test methods: reversed (cantilever) bending (paddlebar) versus axial. As-cast ductile iron fatigue bars were supplied to Dr. Dev Venugopalan at the University of Wisconsin, at Milwaukee (UWM) for reversed bend testing and to Professor Susil Putatunda at Wayne State University (WSU) for axial fatigue testing.
