4 - Factors Influencing the Occurrence of Carbides in Thin Sections of Ductile Iron
Research Projects
Abstract:
A poll of DIS members indicated that one of the most perplexing problems encountered in consistent structural control of as-cast Ductile Iron is the occasional and irregular occurrence of carbides in thin sections. Primary carbides are most detrimental to properties of Ductile Iron, as well as its machineability, if the quality control procedures are not comprehensive enough to detect presence of the carbides.
