Abstract:

The Society's Research Committee carly fixed its at­tention on the importance of maintaining satisfactory me­chanical properties in heavy section castings. At the 1966 Winter Meeting of the Society a "Panel Discussion of Heavy Section Casting Properties", advanced the consideration of the subject and was reported in Society Bulletin No. 41. Shortly there after it was decided to undertake a study at the University of Wisconsin. As there were indications of deficiencies and possible inac­curacies in fundamental information.
